Scia Natalino! Figurine Pastry Plate by Alessi

  • Father Christmas on skis (and a rather perplexed expression) has somehow ended up on a hillock surrounded by a sea of dried fruit or cakes. A simple serving plate becomes a little domestic monument to Christmas. The plate is made in ceramic and subsequently decorated by hand, with the help of decalcomania. “Scia Natalino!” belongs to the “Figure” collection, which comes from our interest in the intriguing world of porcelain figurines, and specifically in the refined production tradition of European ceramic makers from the 18th century onwards, but obviously to suit Alessi’s and contemporary designers’ ways of thinking.

    Alessi Figurines:

This year the third collection of “Figure” will see an expansion of the symbolic presence of Christmas characters transformed into veritable objects of domestic use. The candy bowl sees “Scia Natalino!” on a set of skis in a somewhat precarious position on the peak of a mountaintop, while in the extended version of the celebrated nativity scene, by now a bestseller in the collection, the shepherd “Salvatore” is accompanied by his two “Tiny Little Sheep”, by “La Signora Acqua” (Mrs Water) and by the three triumphant “Re Magi”. The collection closes with the “Hug Tree” in which “Hal Freddo” tenderly embraces a Christmas tree
